Puccini's ~La Boheme
The Santa Fe Opera~
a warm, breezy summer night; 4 million bright twinkling stars in a rich black sky, a elegant supper with delightful friends, the most exquisite romantic music ...ahhh
yes, that was my Tuesday night.
Wicked and I joined with dear friends for a fabulous evening of elegance.
We shared a picnic repast prior to the show while we were instructed in the story of Rodolfo and Mimi and given history and hints to the important musical and plot cues.
Fully armed and filled with anticipation we joined with the huge crowd moving into the world renowned outdoor venue that is The Santa Fe Opera.
Our hosts *insisted* we take their front row seat behind the conductor--YEAH-really, while they took our seats in the balcony. Each seat is provided with an electronic teleprompter in front that provides easy to read lyrics that are not distracting.
A shallow pool of water separated us from the orchestra pit and the stage.
The production was excellent, the cast performed superbly and the evening was pure bliss. At the tragic demise of poor Mimi, we slowly exited then met to share our impressions and provide our critique while the parking lot cleared.
Music has always been magic in my world, Puccini is one of my favorites-melodrama and romance, how can one avoid the bliss?
The ride home was long but filled with warm memories.
Yes, at one time HRH spent time lingering with those music types and singing in the chorus...Madame Butterfly...Carmen...Tosca.
yup, some fine memories.
And today I will fill my house with the sound of music, Operatic Music.
Thank you Annie and Bob. ♥

Very, very, very nice memories. What a fun time we had and what special people Bob & Annie are to so generously share that experience with us! I am still on operatic cloud 9...
You mean, I can go to the opera and, thanks to modern tele-prompting technology, actually understand what I'm hearing? Whoa.
